What is VoIP?
Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a technology for the delivery of voice communications and multimedia sessions over IP networks, such as the Internet. Other terms associated with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone services.
VoIP allows you or your business to make a phone call through a broadband network as opposed to a normal telephone line. This technology came around in the 70′s, although it was more commercially known in the 90′s once software developers got their hands on it.
What are the benefits?
With VoIP allowing your business to make calls through a broadband network this eliminates the need for a landline rental, potentially saving your business a lot of money. Combined with the VoIP software based phone system, allowing for far more capability then the typical landline services, such as taking your phone anywhere in the world, being smartphone friendly, have access to multiple phone numbers and helping your business run a lot more efficiently.
